A Trademark Registration Certificate is a legal document issued by the Indian Trademark Registry that certifies the successful registration of a trademark in India. The trademark certificate is proof of the exclusive ownership of the trademark and grants the trademark owner the absolute right to use the trademark for its goods and services. The certificate of trademark also shows the trademark’s official registration date, class of goods and services and the geographical region where the trademark is registered. The Trademark Registration Certificate is a valuable asset to the trademark owner and must be renewed to ensure its validity. It is mandated to file and obtain "Legal Certified Copy" of all your Registered Trademarks to be used for any legal proceeding purposes under SEC 31 of Trademark Act.
Note: A legal proceeding Certificate is provided by the government after the brand is registered. The government gives a free digital trademark certificate which is uploaded in the trademark registry after trademark registration. When going for a legal proceeding for trademark infringement facing an opponent the court doesn't take the digital certificate as legal evidence. Only a legal certificate can be used as evidence for trademark registration while going for a legal proceeding. If the legal proceeding certificate is not submitted to the court at the right moment, a heavy penalty will be given for not having it even if the brand is registered.
